La Bibliotheca Alexandrina Arts Center lanza la convocatoria para participar en la 3ª edición del Alexandria International Festival for Contemporary Theater (Festival Internacional de Teatro Contemporáneo de Alejandría), que se celebrará del 20 al 28 de abril de 2017.
El festival es una nueva plataforma a través de la cual la Bibliotheca Alexandrina tiene la oportunidad de presentar obras teatrales contemporáneas internacionales al público local. Grupos de teatro de todo el mundo están invitados a participar en el festival, que acogerá 15 espectáculos. Según explican, están interesados en propuestas innovadoras y altamente profesionales que pretendan interactuar con la sociedad de una manera creativa. El festival recibirá trabajos de pantomima, comedia, improvisación, clown, danza contemporánea, multimedia y presentaciones interactivas. La fecha límite para la recepción de solicitudes es el 31 de agosto de 2016. La notificación de los trabajos seleccionados se realizará después del 5 de octubre de 2016.
Terms of participation
1. The form or content of the performance—or both—must fit with the main theme of the festival (contemporary theater).
2. The duration of the performance must range from 30 to 70 minutes.
General guidelines
• Traveling to and from Egypt is the responsibility of the participants.
• The festival organizing committee covers local transportation only.
• The festival organizing committee covers a maximum of five nights of hotel accommodation (half board) in Alexandria for a maximum of eight people per performance.
• Accompanying staff—anyone who is not an actor, dancer, or performer—should not exceed three people.
• Selected groups are expected to send an abstract of the play’s plot divided into chapters or scenes (maximum two pages in Arabic or English) to be distributed during the performance.
• Accepted performances are expected to send any needed information on time.

Please note that each group or artist is allowed to present only one form for only one performance.
The deadline for receiving applications is Wednesday, 31 August 2016. Accepted performances will be notified before Wednesday, 5 October 2016.
